Hello and Welcome to Sampat Farms
Growing up, we spent all our time in the middle of concrete buildings and cacophony of large cities. Then in late 2009 we moved to South San Jose. We were fortunate to have a backyard and get a feel of the open sky and fresh air – in the heart of Silicon Valley. In May 2013, after almost a year of contemplation, we decided to get chickens – not one – but sixteen of them!
The day-old baby chicks arrived in a small box and were delivered at our local post office. The chicks spent their first 8 weeks in our garage while we worked weekends building our “Four Season Chicken Coop”. Our dear friends were kind enough to donate their time and skills. After much effort, we had our chicken coop built. You can check out the video of the “Building of the Chicken Coop” on this website.
Fast forward five months and the chickens are now laying eggs. The egg shells have different shades of brown, white and pastel green. The shell is hard and the yolk is dense yellow – unlike the eggs sold at stores. Yes, of course, these fresh farm eggs taste delicious!
How We Raise Our Chickens
Our chicken’s primary residence is their “Four Seasons Coop” that we built especially for them. The coop has been built strong and can weather extreme temperatures. For instance, the inside of the roof is lined with foil so that the coop does not get too hot during the summer months. We want our chicken’s to be cozy and happy at all times.
We not only provide our chickens with high quality feed, but also provide multiple servings of seasonal fruits such as cherries, walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, dry worms and much more! We take good care of them by giving them access to fresh water at all times.
Most importantly, the chickens are cage free. They run around the backyard all day from dusk to dawn. We believe that high quality food, shelter and ongoing care makes eggs taste much better.
It has been a super-fun experience to understand our chickens, play with them and also take care of them. Hope you love them as much as we do.
We Sell Fresh Eggs
We welcome you to try our fresh farm eggs. Since we are a very small farm right now, we ask that you call us at 408-915-7518 or email us firstname.lastname@example.org before you come by to pick-up the eggs.
We prefer to sell eggs in batches of six eggs as we want you to experience the difference between fresh eggs versus those sold at grocery stores.
We sell half dozen eggs for $4 and one dozen for $7. Payment in cash only.
